Singapore Visa for Indians 2026
Requirements, Documents & Process (2026 Guide)
Yes, Indian passport holders need a visa before travelling to Singapore, and there is no visa on arrival. The visa is applied for online as an e-Visa. ICA currently charges ₹2,100 per application (non-refundable), and processing takes 3 to 5 working days. You need a signed Form 14A, a recent colour photo, a passport copy valid for 6 months and a Letter of Introduction (Form V39A). After the visa, submit the free SG Arrival Card within 3 days before you land.
Planning a Singapore trip from India is exciting, but the visa step confuses many first-time travellers. Which documents does ICA actually ask for? Who issues the Letter of Introduction? Is the SG Arrival Card the same as a visa? This guide answers all of it in plain language, using the rules published by Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and the Singapore Consulate-General in Mumbai.
If you would rather have an expert handle the paperwork, our Singapore visa services India team will review your file and guide you from document check to e-Visa.

Do Indians Need a Visa for Singapore?
Yes. ICA states that holders of ordinary Indian passports must apply for a Singapore entry visa before their visit. Holders of official and diplomatic Indian passports are exempt. An Indian traveller who has no valid visa and does not qualify for the Visa-Free Transit Facility will not be allowed to enter Singapore, so airlines can deny boarding without one.
One point trips up many travellers: a visa is pre-entry permission, not an immigration pass. The officer at the checkpoint decides whether to let you in and how long you can stay. Having a visa alone does not guarantee entry.
Singapore Visa Requirements for Indians: ICA Document Checklist
According to the Singapore Consulate-General in Mumbai, an application is accepted only when all of the following are in order:
- Form 14A, signed by you. Your application is made on the basis of the details you declare in this form, so fill every field accurately. You can download Form 14A from ICA.
- A recent colour passport-size photo, taken within the last three months and meeting the ICA photo guidelines.
- A photocopy of your passport biodata page, with the passport valid for at least six months from your date of entry into Singapore.
- A Letter of Introduction (Form V39A), which may be issued by a local contact in Singapore (explained below).
ICA may ask for additional supporting documents on a case-by-case basis. Any document in Hindi, including official notes, must be translated into English.
Letter of Introduction (Form V39A): the part most people miss
The Form V39A is issued by a local contact in Singapore. The local contact must be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident aged 21 or above who has a SingPass or CorpPass account. For a business visit (meetings or negotiations), the local contact must act on behalf of a Singapore-registered business.
If you do not know anyone in Singapore, ICA also accepts a Letter of Introduction issued by your own embassy for social and business visits. This is why many Indian travellers use a visa specialist: an experienced agent knows exactly how this step works for your profile.
Supporting documents that strengthen your application
The items below are not on ICA’s core list, but officers can ask for proof of your trip and finances, and ICA reminds visitors to have sufficient funds for their stay. Keeping them ready avoids delays.
Document | Why it helps |
|---|---|
Confirmed return or onward flight tickets | Shows you plan to leave Singapore |
Hotel booking or host address | Confirms where you will stay |
Bank statements (last 3 to 6 months) | Shows you can fund your trip |
Employment letter, ITR or business registration | Shows your ties and income in India |
Day-wise itinerary | Makes your travel purpose clear |
For a smooth plan, you can book flight tickets and hotels through Travel On Call, but avoid fully non-refundable bookings until your visa is approved.
Passport check before you apply
Your passport must have at least six months’ validity from the date you enter Singapore. If it is close to expiry, renew it first with our passport services or through Passport Seva. Note that a Singapore visa is non-transferable: if you get a new passport, you must apply for a fresh visa, and the prevailing fee applies.
How to Apply for a Singapore Visa from India (Step by Step)
The Consulate-General no longer accepts walk-in applications. Applications go through ICA’s online e-Visa system and are submitted by authorised visa agents, or by a Singapore-based local contact with a SingPass account.
- Check your eligibility and dates. Confirm your passport validity and travel dates. Apply within 30 days before arrival.
- Complete Form 14A. Sign it yourself and keep details consistent with your passport.
- Arrange your Letter of Introduction (Form V39A). Get it from a local contact or your embassy.
- Prepare your photo and passport scan. Follow ICA photo rules.
- Submit the application and pay. The ICA fee is paid upfront at submission. Travel On Call reviews your documents first so errors are fixed before they cost you a non-refundable fee.
- Track the application and download your e-Visa. Print a copy and carry it, along with your return ticket and hotel details.
- Submit the SG Arrival Card online within 3 days before landing.

Singapore Visa Fees and Processing Time in 2026
Cost item | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
ICA visa fee | ₹2,100 | Per application; non-refundable regardless of outcome; paid upfront |
Authorised agent service charge | ₹1,300 | Fixed per application, per the Mumbai Consulate-General |
Urgent application surcharge | None | The Consulate-General states there is no extra charge for urgent applications |
Processing normally takes 3 to 5 working days, not counting the day of submission, weekends or holidays. ICA considers every application on its merits, and some take longer, so do not book non-refundable tickets on the assumption of fast approval. Peak periods such as Diwali, Christmas and school holidays are worth planning around.
Fees and charges are set by the authorities and can change, so confirm the latest figures on the ICA website before you pay. For Travel On Call’s current service terms, see our Singapore visa page.
How Long Can You Stay in Singapore?
The length of your stay is not tied to the validity of your visa. When you arrive, the immigration officer endorses a visit pass in your passport showing the period of stay granted. Social visitors are commonly granted up to 30 days, but the exact period is decided at the checkpoint, so check the endorsement before you leave the counter.
If you need more time, apply for a visit pass extension at least 5 working days before it expires, through ICA.
How to Check Your Singapore Visa Status Online
Once your agent gives you the application reference number, you can track it yourself:
- Go to the ICA website.
- Under e-Services and Forms, open the entry visa application service.
- Choose Enquiry Application Status.
- Enter your Visa Reference Number and your passport number.
- If approved, select Print e-Visa.
If you lose your e-Visa copy, the same steps let you print it again.
Singapore Visa-Free Transit Facility (96 Hours) for Indians
Indian nationals in transit to or from a third country by air may qualify for the 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF). It is not a tourist shortcut, and the conditions are strict:
- You must have a valid onward air, ferry or cruise ticket leaving Singapore within 96 hours.
- You must hold a valid visa or long-term pass for Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the United States, with at least one month’s validity from your date of entry. For Germany and Switzerland, a Schengen visa valid for those countries also counts.
- You can enter by any mode of transport but must depart by air or sea.
- Extension of stay under VFTF is not allowed, and ICA officers still assess you at the checkpoint.
If you do not clearly meet every condition, apply for a regular visit visa. Details are on the ICA VFTF page.
SG Arrival Card: Required Even With a Visa
The SG Arrival Card (SGAC) is a digital declaration of your personal details, trip details and health status. It is not a visa, and it is completely free.
- Submit it within 3 days before arrival, counting the day of arrival. If you land on 30 June, you can submit from 28 June.
- Use only the official SG Arrival Card e-Service or the MyICA mobile app.
- ICA does not endorse commercial services that charge a fee for submitting it, so avoid look-alike websites.
- Travellers who have not submitted it will be asked to do so and re-join the immigration queue.
Requirements for Different Traveller Profiles
ICA’s core checklist is the same for everyone, but the supporting proof that makes sense depends on who you are. These are general guidelines, not an ICA-published list.
- Salaried professionals: employment letter with leave approval, recent salary slips and bank statements.
- Business owners and self-employed: business registration, recent ITR and business bank statements.
- Students: school or college ID, enrolment proof and details of who is funding the trip.
- Retired travellers: pension proof and savings statements.
- Families and groups: each traveller needs their own application, form and photo. Ask your agent how Form 14A should be signed for a child.
- Business visitors: a Letter of Introduction from the Singapore-registered business you are meeting.
Common Reasons for Delays or Refusal
ICA does not publish a full list of refusal reasons, and every application is decided on its own merits. From what we see in practice, applications run into trouble because of:
- Details on Form 14A that do not match the passport or supporting documents
- A blurry, old or non-compliant photo
- A missing or invalid Letter of Introduction
- Passport validity under 6 months at the time of entry
- A previous immigration violation
- Unclear travel purpose or unclear proof of funds
Remember that the ₹2,100 fee is non-refundable even if the application is not approved. That is why a document check before you submit is worth it. If you have had a refusal before, tell your agent upfront.
Planning to Work in Singapore?
This guide covers social and business visit visas only. The Consulate-General does not issue employment passes or work permits, and it does not accept work visa applications submitted by travel agents. Work passes are applied for by your employer through Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower.
Combining Singapore With Other Trips? Visa Planning Across Destinations
Singapore pairs well with other destinations, and each one has its own visa rules. Plan them together so one delay does not break the whole itinerary.
Singapore + Vietnam. This is a popular two-country holiday. Most Indian travellers apply for a Vietnam e-visa online, and the government fee is typically $25 for single entry and $50 for multiple entry, with about 3 working days of processing. Read our guides on the Vietnam e visa, Vietnam visa for Indians and Vietnam visa requirements before you book. Heading to the island? See the Phu Quoc visa guide. If your dates are tight, our urgent Vietnam visa article explains what is realistic. And if you are going for employment rather than a holiday, read about the Vietnam work visa and permit process.
Singapore + Dubai. A Dubai stopover is common on long itineraries. Check our Dubai visa services India page for the latest UAE rules before you fly.
Singapore + Europe. Flying on to Europe? Schengen applications need appointments and more paperwork, so start early. Our Schengen visa services India page explains fees, documents and timelines.
