Urgent Vietnam Visa Processing Time, Emergency Options & How to Apply Fast
How Fast Can You Really Get One?
The official Vietnam e-visa usually takes about 3 working days. The government portal does not promise approval in less than that, so no agency can truthfully guarantee a same-day Vietnam visa. If you fly in less than 3 working days, treat it as high risk. Apply immediately, double-check every field, keep your flight changeable, and contact Travel On Call so we can tell you what is realistic for your dates.
It is late evening. Your flight to Vietnam is in three days, and your visa is not ready. You search for an urgent vietnam visa and find pages promising approval in two hours, 100% guaranteed. Before you pay anyone, read this page. We explain what urgent can and cannot mean, how long approval really takes, what a good agent can do for you, and what to do if time runs out.

What Urgent, Express, Emergency and Same-Day Really Mean
You will see many labels online: vietnam express visa, emergency visa vietnam, expedited vietnam visa, vietnam e visa urgent and visa urgent vietnam. These are marketing names for one thing: a request to have your application handled with priority by a service provider. They are not separate visa types.
Here is the part many sites skip. Whatever the label, the approval comes from Vietnam’s immigration authorities. An agent can prepare your application quickly and correctly, and can follow it up, but cannot decide it. Processing and approval times are set by the authorities and cannot be guaranteed.
Real Processing Time: What to Expect
The standard timeline for the e-visa is around 3 working days, counted from the time you submit a complete application and pay the fee. “Working days” means weekends and public holidays generally do not count. Four things commonly stretch it:
- Mistakes in your data. Most delays and rejections come from errors. If the information is wrong, processing can take longer, and a declined application means fixing the error and applying again with a new fee.
- Public holidays. Processing can slow down or pause around Vietnamese public holidays such as 1 January, 30 April to 1 May, 2 September and Tet (Lunar New Year, which falls in early February 2027). We could not find official closure dates for Tet 2027 yet, so please check the official portal or ask us before you plan around those dates.
- Weekends. A Friday-evening application does not start counting until the next working day.
- Peak travel periods. Busy seasons can mean longer waits, so do not plan on the minimum.
Is a Same-Day Vietnam Visa Real?
You will see vietnam visa same day offers everywhere. Here is how to read them honestly:
- The official portal does not promise approval in under 3 working days.
- A service advertising same-day approval cannot guarantee it, because it does not control the decision.
- If any website says guaranteed in 2 hours, treat that as a red flag, not as a feature.
It is possible for an application to be approved earlier than the standard time. But possible is not promised, and you should never pay a premium or buy non-refundable flights on the strength of a same-day claim.

How Many Days Do You Have? A Timeline Guide
| Working days before your flight | Risk level | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 7 or more | Low | Apply on the official portal now. This is the recommended buffer. |
| 4 to 6 | Medium | Apply today. Check every detail, because an error can cost you days. |
| Up to 3 | High | Apply immediately and contact us. Keep your flight and hotel changeable. |
| Less than 2 (flying within about 48 hours) | Very high | Do not count on the e-visa. Read the alternatives below and talk to us before spending more. |
Remember that these are working days. If your flight is on Monday and today is Thursday evening, you do not have 4 working days.
Your Last-Minute Checklist (Do These Today)
- Passport validity. Vietnam expects your passport to be valid for at least six months from arrival, as both the US Department of State and the UK Foreign Office state. If it is close to expiry, see our passport assistance page.
- Clear passport scan. Use the data page, uncropped and not blurry.
- Recent photo. Passport-style, plain background.
- Exact name match. Enter your name exactly as printed in the passport.
- Correct entry and exit points. Your e-visa applies to the entry and exit points you choose, so select them carefully.
- Payment card. Keep a card that works for international payments, plus a backup.
- Apply only on the official portal. The e-visa website is evisa.gov.vn. Type it in yourself.
- Save and print. Keep your registration code, then print the approved e-visa and carry it with your passport.

If Time Runs Out: Your Options
1. Check whether you need a visa at all
Citizens of some countries can enter without a visa for a fixed number of days. Check your passport in our Vietnam visa requirements guide. Indian passport holders are not on the standard exemption list.
2. Visa on arrival (air only)
Visa on arrival needs a pre-approval letter arranged before you fly, through a licensed agency, and it works only at international airports. Airlines may refuse boarding if you do not have the letter, and approval cannot be guaranteed. Ask us whether this route is practical for your passport and dates.
3. Phu Quoc, if your trip is only the island
Phu Quoc has a separate 30-day exemption with strict conditions: arrive directly from abroad, stay on the island, and leave from there. It does not cover mainland Vietnam, and the Indian Embassy in Hanoi has advised Indian travellers to get a visa anyway. Read the full rules in our Phu Quoc visa guide before relying on it.
4. Visa from a Vietnamese mission
Indian travellers can also apply for a sticker visa through the Embassy of Vietnam in New Delhi or the Consulate General in Mumbai. Timing is decided by the mission, so confirm it with them or with us.
5. Move your travel date
This is the least exciting option, but sometimes it is the cheapest. Ask your airline and hotel about change or hold options before you pay more for a rushed visa.
How to Avoid Urgent-Visa Scams
Panic is when people overpay. Watch for these five red flags:
- Guaranteed same-day approval. Nobody can guarantee a government decision.
- A site posing as the government. The official e-visa portal is evisa.gov.vn. A private site may legally act as an agent, but it is not the government and must be clear about that.
- The total is hidden. You should see the government fee and the service charge separately, before you pay. The government fee is US$25 or US$50. Anything beyond that is the agent’s charge, so ask for it in writing.
- Payment to a personal account. Real businesses have a registered name and proper payment channels.
- No real office or contact. Travel On Call LLP is based at Office No. 101, 2nd Floor, Plot No. 144, Netaji Subhash Enclave, Sector 72A, Gurugram, Haryana 122101, and has been serving travellers since 2011.
Arrival-Day Reminder
Since 15 April 2026, most foreign nationals arriving at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport need to complete a free digital pre-arrival declaration at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn. It does not replace your visa. Use only that official address, which is free.
Once your visa is approved, we can help with the rest of the trip: flight bookings, hotel support, travel insurance, foreign currency and holiday packages. A tip for last-minute travellers: wait for the visa approval before you buy non-refundable tickets, unless you have a flexible fare.
